She stared at the hourglass that stood in two inch thick magicked glass on the other side of the room. Narrowed her eyes when she realized that what had drawn her attention to it was that it had fallen silent. Something it hadn't been since she'd gotten to the apartment three days ago. Now she …

The ground rumbled ominously. A soft shake, a tremble more than anything else, making the sand that covered the Valley floor shimmer and tumble soundlessly in all directions. Minutes would pass before another shake, another tremble, stronger than the last. Over and over in a cycle of shaking trembles, shimmering tumbling sand, few minutes' pause, …

"You always did like to sit on rocks all broodin' an' shit." He was smiling before he'd even finished turning his head from the river he'd been watching for the last hour or some. Smiled wider at the sight of Nhulynolyn standing beside the rock he'd been sitting on, blue eyes sparkling with mischief and …

"Do you really want to know why you're not his companion anymore, you pompous shit?" Alaïs' voice sliced apart the quiet and focus, making everyone in the infirmary jump. Shadiranamen closed her eyes and sent a prayer to any gods listening for patience. She didn't blame the Sinner for her anger. Knew exactly why it …

"We shouldn't be here, Jaro," he hissed under his breath, carefully working to stitch the wounds that Palace Healers had brought from deadly to nuisance. He didn't look up from what he was doing, didn't need to see the Soulless' face to know that Jaro was giving him the male's trademark narrowed eyed glare of …

It was hard to say when he'd gotten out of his cell. Probably seconds after his shackles had shattered. It was harder still to say why he'd scrambled to his feet and lurched out of his cell, aiming for freedom. He was weakened by days without adequate food or water, no exercise, and being unable …

The second the Gateway's magick released him Xykra was slamming into him, her arms wrapping around his neck. Sidestepping out of the way as Azriel and Shadiranamen came through behind him, he clutched his sister to him and buried his face in her neck. Took in the scent of her skin and the soft fall …

Rain poured all around her. Soaked through her clothes until they clung to her body. Fell in rivulets down her face, clumping her eyelashes until seeing was almost impossible, no matter how often she wiped the water out of her eyes. But she didn't stop running. Took the turns in the roads faster than one …

She stared down at the thin band inked permanently into the skin of her left heart finger. A mark her mate shared on his own hand, an agreement made to show they were bound together for all time because with their lives, with the Court they had sworn fealty to, rings weren't doable. Not safely, …

It was so freeing to slip his skin. To let the Truth of him loose as Ryphqi's wards activated and locked down everything that didn't belong. Mouth spread in a smile that made his victims' Fear soak the power-laden air. Hands that were nothing more than too many joints and talons caught bodies and tore …

Synopsis

The Seven Worlds follows the story of Rhyshladlyn Ka’ahne, an extraordinary Dhaoine born into and raised in conditions that should have broken him but didn’t.

It is a story about impossible choices, heartache, triumphs, horrors and nightmares, bravery, loss, and becoming. One that shows that even when the odds are stacked in your favor, you can still lose but that doesn’t mean you have to give up, only get up and try again but harder this time.

Rhyshladlyn Ka’ahne’s story has, was, and will always be a lesson in why faith isn’t just for the gods. That more often than not, it’s for ourselves first because sometimes family, hope, and love aren’t enough to win the big fight, to overcome every — let alone any — adversity. That sometimes you have to be your own savior.
